National Debt

We’ve got our solution to reducing the national debt from an old episode of Saturday Night Live.

It’s called, “Don’t buy stuff you cannot afford.”

Serious though, it’s a real problem. One that can’t be dismissed by waving a hand and saying, “But we’re just borrowing from ourselves.” The real problem with the national debt is that no politician wants to deal with it, it would be too difficult to get elected, and getting elected is a politician’s number one concern.

Democrats and Republicans just want to kick the can down the road. Let it be someone else’s problem, somewhere, sometime, after they are long gone from office.

Part of the problem is that it’s a more complicated subject than most voters can stand, but it doesn’t really need to be. Here’s a five minute overview that will leave you more informed than most of congress.
