The environment, that is to say the world, has been around and doing fine since long long before our ancestors stood up on two feet, and will be around long long after we’re gone.
Movements to “save the world” have it exactly ass-backwards, the world does not need saving, certainly not from us. It is we who need saving from the environment. Our uniquely human ability to adapt to every climate on earth is what separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom.
Environment is a local concern, Private landowners have a vested interest in maintaining natural resources. Pollution and misuse of resources cause damage to our ecosystem.
Governments, unlike private businesses, are unaccountable for such damage done to our environment and have a terrible track record when it comes to environmental protection.
Free markets and social pressure stimulate the innovation and behavioral changes required to protect our environment.
